Department of Philosophy
From Philosophy comes all the essential in the being of the Spirit in infinitely many ways and in it the same returns again. It is the outburst of the logos towards its exteriority, towards the question of what-being-is, towards the world as the space of its action, which, in the return of the the acting, creates self-consciousness as a condition for freedom.
For Plato it is “the conversation of the soul with itself”, and according to the German classical philosophers, through philosophy the entire Universe thinks of itself in the concept as the highest form of knowledge. Philosophy has the totality as its own object, the system of the world, the Truth in itself and for itself, and constantly strained in the search for the Absolute, it shares the area of God-knowledge with theology.
Philosophy is ontology, but also aesthetics and ethics on a meta-level. In philosophical reflection, the concepts of all special sciences and their epistemic fields are born, and in its discoveries of logical laws as a borderlines, it is methodologically possible for the sciences to be transmitted as logical and meaningful knowledge. Philosophy is their metaphysics. Learning and teaching at the same time, a culture of debate, a struggle to separate essential from non-essential things. In fact, it gives birth to the dialogos as a tropos of the logos, and every conversation without its metaperspective is ultimately an dis-logical collapse.
Panepistimio means university, a σχολή (scholē), as a place where free people meet and are educated. Philosophy enables their finalization but also the completion of all their actions and works.
